Delaware County: Down the Tremper's Kill by John B. Monroe, 1942
"The first lot as we go down the Tremperskill in Johnson's Second Purchase is lot 31, 200 acres. The first settler on this lot with any claim of title was William Dutcher, carpenter, who had a deed for lot 31 from Andrew Morris, dated May 22, 1821. Dutcher probably lived on lot 31 before he had a deed as he appears in the 1820 census for Andes. He was pathmaster for road district No. 6 in 1821 and appears to have lived on the McCabe-Smith farm at or near the site of the present Smith house, as the survey for the Shaver Hollow Road, 1839, begun near the Dutcher house. Richard Fuller succeeded Dutcher in 1842."
